Compaction Test Procedure
- The compaction test is among the easiest and effective tests to perform. The tests involve:
- Collect a substantial amount of soil sample and pass the content through a sieve to form a fine grained soil.
- Accurately weigh the mass of the fine-grained soil while adding it to the mixer. Gradually add water to the sample soil to reach the ideal moisture content.
- Take off the sample and mold the content to form 3 or 5 layers. The layers activate the compaction process by expressing at least 25 blows on each layer. It is advisable for the user to lubricate the machine before making the drops.
