What you need to do to test the concrete temperature per ASTM C1064
Submerging the thermometer to test the concrete temperature per the procedure per ASTM C1064
We are going to demonstrate ASTM C1064. The standard test method used to determine the temperature of freshly mixed concrete.
Step 1: The concrete equipment you need to test the concrete temperature per ASTM C1064
Get a calibrated temperature measuring device, that is able to read to nearest one degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Collect your sample
Step 3: Check your temperature measuring device
First, collect your concrete sample according to ASTM C172.
You want to make sure your measuring device can be submerged a minimum of 3″ in the concrete sample.
Step 4: Place your temperature device in concrete
Step 5: Secure the measuring device in the concrete
Make sure the temperature measuring device is submerged into the concrete at least three inches.
Once you have it submerged you will then gently press around the temperature measuring device. This way the ambient air temperature does not influence the measured temperature.
Once the temperature measuring device is submerged to test the concrete temperature
Step 6: Wait for stabilization
Step 7: Wait until the temperature has stabilized
Remember that you have to wait at least two minutes up to five minutes once the temperature measuring device is in the concrete.
While the temperature measuring device is still submerged in the concrete sample. Start reading and recording the fresh concrete temperature to the nearest one degrees Fahrenheit.
If you pull the measuring device out of the concrete before the two minutes, that makes the test invalid, and you must restart the test.
